What To Wear {Business}
What to Wear to your Modern Business Headshots
What to wear to your business headshots can be an overwhelming process! Therefore, I’ve created this guide to serve for both men and women.
What you wear for Professional Business Portraits may differ from what to wear day to day. These tips are targeted toward helping you look your best for your company’s website staff directory, Linkedin, email signatures and other social media profiles. At the end of the day, I want you to look and feel your best, so use these suggestions as a guide when planning for your session.
Plan Ahead - About a month out is when you want to don your outfit to be sure it fits properly, the garment is cleaned and you’re not missing any important pieces such as buttons or loose hems in need of repair.
Comfort - Make sure your outfit is one that you feel confident and comfortable wearing and most importantly, fits the “look” you want to convey in your final images. Clothes should not be too tight OR too loose. Too tight and buttons pull, and too loose can add the appearance for bulkiness.
Colors and Pattern - Try and avoid black if you’re planning an indoor shoot—unless it’s true to your brand colors. Deep rich colors such as navy, burgandy, emerald green and similar are a great alternative. Pastels are also good options, be careful to not choose flesh tone colors that are a close match your skin tone. Avoid bold and busy patterns, solids are always the better choice.
No Sleeveless - The viewers eye is drawn right to the flesh, and we want the focus to be right on your beautiful face!
Jacket or Not - This is personal preference, bring it, we can always do 2 looks for your portraits.
Layers - Yes, adding layers to your outfit will always increase interest. A scarf, vest, tie, suspenders, jewelry and similar pieces that fit your style are perfect.
