How to Have a Fun Senior Session

Over the past year, I’ve been perfecting my Senior Experience. From creating prep guides to walk you through each step, writing blog posts like this to explain what to expect, to the final but best step I’m implementing this year: a consultation.

I stumbled upon this final step of a consult during the session with Cornerstone Christian School Class of 2024 High School Senior, Elly Thistlethwaite!

Elly’s session was scheduled, locations were planned, but spring weather in Bloomington had other ideas with rain and wind forcing us to reschedule. (PS: If the weather is rainy or too windy, we will reschedule. I always build flexibility into my calendar to account for Mother Nature.) However, Elly needed a photo for her grad invites, so we scheduled a quick photoshoot at the studio to get it done.

The most beautiful thing happened—we got to meet before her big session, which helped Elly get rid of any photo jitters! We discussed locations, final outfit choices, and the vibe she wanted for her photos: carefree and easy!

Fast forward to her full Senior Session day… The weather in Uptown Normal was perfect with blue skies and a comfortable spring breeze. Since we had already met, our conversation was super easy and effortless. Elly’s session was a perfect blend of guided posing and natural movement, creating authentic images that truly captured her personality!

From start to finish, Elly’s Senior Session in Bloomington was a wonderful experience, and I can’t wait to create more memories like this with the Class of 2025!
