Locations {Matching Your Home}

It’s almost time for your session and you’re trying to decide on a location. Here are some tips you’ll want to keep in mind:

What is the décor of your home? My photography style is bright and true to the color you see. If you decorate your home in wood tones, soft shades of grey, cream and an accent color of blue you may not want to dress in bold colors such as orange or red to display on a canvas on your walls because it wouldn’t match your homes style.

So, how do you make sure to coordinate your outfits and locations to match the style of your home?

If you have a farmhouse style home, studio portraits may not necessarily be the best fit unless you put them in barn wood type frames to make them fit in more. For you, we’d want to do outdoors with possibly tall trees in the background or an open field. Images like the one below would look perfect in a black frame with a white matte around the print.

Not into farmhouse, more of a modern home, studio photos might be a great option, or even an urban location like Uptown Normal or Downtown Bloomington.

And sometimes the best location of all is your home! After all that’s where you spend the majority of your time loving on your people! I will come right to your house and create some amazing photos of your family in your own natural environment. These are some of my favorite because of their authenticity and will look great in your house because they match perfectly.

At the end of the day location doesn't matter as much as who is in the images! It’s important that you location and outfits all go together. Which leads me to my last point, if you don’t know which location fits your style best you can send me photos of your outfits and home decor so I can guide you to the best look for your home!
