What to Wear {Couples}
Engagement sessions are included with each of our wedding collections because it’s important to build a relationship with you! This time is key for getting to know you, and for you to get to know me and my style, so on your wedding day my assistant and I can best document what’s important to you on your special day. The engagement session always helps capture more natural, authentic images on your wedding day because you know your photographer, and you’re more comfortable in front of the camera.
Here are 5 tips to Prepare for your Engagement Session
1. Come Prepared
Small details like having manicured nails to show off your ring and the right colored socks help ease stress, so consider setting out your outfits the night before and making sure you have every accessory you want to be photographed ready!
2. Bring a Change of Clothes
Two is always better than one. You'll have the opportunity for an outfit change halfway through the session. This gives you the chance to get a few different looks and feels for your session while maximizing our time together. Many couples opt for one dressier option and one more casual option! Wear clothes that make you feel like you, this might be an outfit in your wardrobe that you love and brings out your confident side. Pick outfits that complement each other, but don't match (such as one person wear a pattern and one a solid, but never both of the same).
3. Nerves are Okay
Please know that I don't expect you to be models. My job is to direct you in a way that helps you feel natural, and be your true comfortable selves in front of our camera. You do not need to practice poses, study Pinterest pins or let the nerves take over. By the end of the session, you will feel amazing and wonder when your big break in modeling will come! Don’t worry and simply relax, the end result is something you will love!
4. Props and Puppies
This is the time to tell YOUR story. If you’re wondering about how you can make your experience personal and memorable, feel free to bring along any props that are special to you. This includes if you have a specific location in mind or family property you'd like to incorporate. In the end, I want you session to scream YOU, so if that means bringing your four-legged friend along or props that tell your story, please do! We can incorporate them into your photos in a fun way. Maybe it’s something from your proposal or a hobby you both love and share, maybe it’s a food you love or a bottle of wine that is special. Whatever you want in your photos, we’ll do my best to make it happen!
5. Make Plans for After
All dressed up with no place to go? No thanks! Don’t forget to plan a date! You’re already going to be all dressed up! Why not take advantage of it? I know the wedding planning process can feel all-consuming, so take some time after the session just for the two of you to relax and have some fun together.
