When to Schedule Newborns

When should you contact Teresa Klokkenga Photography to get on our schedule?

The best answer is about 3 months before your due date. For that reason I open up my calendar for several months at a time for you to pick a weekday or weekend that best fits your expected delivery date.

***Fall is busier with fall family sessions and you may want to plan about 4-5 months in advance to be sure you get your preferred day. 

How soon after baby arrives should we expect to have our Newborn Pictures taken?

The answer to this question depends on your due date and the image style you’re wanting of your newborn. I offer 2 different newborn portraits sessions:

Wrapped and Posed Newborn in studio and Lifestyle Newborn in your home.

Not sure which style is for you, check out the portraits in this blog to see which you are most drawn to. The first block below is posed in studio and the second is lifestyle in the home.

For posed newborn photography (images above) you’ll want to plan about 10-14 days after your expected due date.

For lifestyle newborn photography (images below) I suggest anywhere from 2-3 weeks. Lifestyle will be a bit more awake shots and interactive, but we may catch some sleepy moments too!

What if baby arrives earlier than your due date?

If baby comes early, we’ll look at birth weight and determine if we should move that session date up, or keep it as is. Sometimes babies come several weeks early, it's best to allow them a little more time to put on weight and schedule closer to their due date. If this is the case we will adjust your session time accordingly to be sure we capture the best pictures of you new baby!
